Re: Should be dnsreport.comFrom: Men & Mice Support Date: Friday, December 26, 2003
Time: 12:55:46 pmThis thread is way too angry. Please, everyone, try to be civil and calm.
A couple of facts and opinions related to the discussion:
- The DNS Expert analysis engine is now available for free use (one
zone at a time) on our website. Look on our homepage for a link
(center right) to a free DNS analysis. This uses the engine from DNS
Expert Monitor, which is more updated than the one in DNS Expert
Professional 1.6.

- I haven't yet seen an automated DNS analysis tool that's perfect
with regard to warnings, errors, facts, and opinions. This includes
DNSreport.com and DNS Expert. However, I believe DNS Expert is better
in this regard than DNSreport.com (but then I'm biased).
In the case of the message that sparked this discussion, regarding
the "missing" glue record message, I have to agree with Len. It's a
poorly-worded, insufficiently-investigated "warning" that only serves
to confuse novices. But other report messages from DNSreport.com are
good and useful.
DNS Expert Professional has been known to give similarly misleading
messages. Customers then try to eliminate every warning message from
the analysis results, often leading to mistakes.
