The word "authority" makes no sense in that phrase. simply "zone NS
records" is sufficient, since they have nothing to do with (conferring)
authority.

Those NS records are specially important and are called delegation records
or delegation data (all DNS records are DNS database "data").

When I encounter something weird in somebody's DNS and want to normalize
it, I always ask first "why is it done this way?" and never get an informed
justification, so I fix it.
