Ahh, semantics! Gotta love it.

You say "zone NS records", I say "authority NS records" - "authority"
as in "claim of authority", not "conferring or delegating authority".
The RFC's don't seem to define a precise name for these records, at
least as far as I've been able to find in a brief search. I was able
to find this in RFC 1034:

>Though logically part of the authoritative data, the RRs that
>describe the top node of the zone are especially important to the
>zone's management. These RRs are of two types: name server RRs that
>list, one per RR, all of the servers for the zone, and a single SOA
>RR that describes zone management parameters.

I find myself unwilling to use the phrase "zone NS records", since
this seems liable to cause confusion in newbies who don't understand
the distinction between these records and delegation records.

Since the RFC groups these records with the SOA (Start of Authority)
record, the phrase "authority NS records" seems justifiable.
