Under Maintenance & Preferences -> General Preferences -> Miscellaneous,
make sure you have the "Show Print Receipt Dialog When Posting Payments"
setting set to 'Yes'.

That would be normal... if you send to a non-existent email address within a
domain on your mail server, most mail servers will not even accept it for
delivery.
