Annoying DNS ProblemFrom: Simon Wright Date: Monday, March 15, 2004
Time: 8:03:25 amWe are running QuickDNS 4.0 to manage DNS on a PowerMac 400MHz G3
running Jaguar (10.2.8). A lot of our users are reporting that the
first reference to a domain will fail or hang and that all subsequent
references will work.
For example, if they are running a web browser and enter a URL that
they've not visited before the link will fail often with a server
cannot be found message. If they retry it works immediately and further
links to that site work too.
This is happening to users both on our local network and who are using
our DNS from outside.
The Mac running DNS is also running a WebMail application but it
receives light activity.
Any ideas? Is a 400MHz G3 not enough? Should I upgrade to Panther?
Thanks.
