Re: Web Based Forum vs. This Email Based OneFrom: Daniel Armstrong Date: Saturday, May 15, 2004
Time: 11:11:16 amHi,
I think that a web-based forum is a good idea (and my preferred method).
My 'Optigold' folder has 18970 messages, and that's only 2 years worth =
of
posts! Searching that many messages (which I do regularly) is a chore, =
and
I'd like to have access to the forum when I'm not at my personal =
computer.
I subscribe to several other online forums and they have the same sense =
of
'community' and quick response time as this list does.
Recently one of our e-mail lists became an online-forum
(http://www.askalligate.com) and I think it's been a well-received =
change.
Of course, a forum is only as good as the data it archives and the =
members
who post. The new Alligate forum seemed a bit lame for the first couple =
of
weeks because there were very few posts and only a handful of members, =
but
now it's getting back up to speed.
Thanks,=20
Daniel
