It's not a matter of dumb -vs- smart auto-replies; it's a matter of
using these stupid verify systems on mail lists...with the onus being
put on the mail list maintainer of confirming with whatever
fly-by-night confirmation vendor happens to crop up.

People have no business trying to force mail list to comply with
their systems. Repeated requests to do that should result in banning.
This is not the first confirm request from that person. It's the 2nd
today and 3rd in the last month.

One is annoying enough.
