The italic type indicates that it's a slave zone and not a master
zone, or a slave server and not a master server for the zone in
question (depending on whether you're in Server View or Zone View).

If you have a zone that's not being pulled from the master by the
slave, then you'll need to troubleshoot this. There are many little
things that can go wrong, including firewalls and switches.
