Hi,
firstly it is a shame that we might not see what filemaker7 can do for
Opti-Gold
(I could do without the expense of filemaker7 server though)
This is probably the easiest way to upgrade
One of the reasons I chose Opti-Gold was because it had lots of ability and
was NOT PURELY WEB BASED.
Web based programs have improved but very few have the ability and ease of
use of a well designed GUI interface.
Web based is fine for customers info or adding customers, but is lacking
when you really want to get around your customers info. Web based is usually
slower.
php/mysql might be better for the techo, but is it really better for general
office staff.
Why php, why not python. php is popular now but,...what about the future
I would prefer a GUI interface php/mysql can do this
My main complaint about Optigold is that it does not readily interface with
other applications such as mail and radius servers though ODBC. Perhaps in
the new version there could be an option to have a mirror database which
mail and radius servers can interface with directly.
