It seems to indeed not be a QDNS issue, as seen in this one post on the
apple forums:

Hopefully the smart guys at M and M can figure this out. I know it is not a
QDNS issue anymore, however, QDNS is sold as a package, so I am hopeful that
this issue will be fixed as part of that package, or at least a workaround.
