Propagation delays? From: Jeff Justice Date: Friday, October 29, 2004
Time: 7:06:27 amI know this has probably been gone over a zillion times, but I'm
struggling with it again.
We just changed providers, but still have the old provider for a time
yet. I made the IP address change with our registrar on Monday evening
for our primary DNS. I didn't change any of the IP info for our
web/email/database servers in our DNS at that time, as they are still
on the old provider's IP's. The only change I made to our primary DNS
was to reflect the new IP address for our name server record. I
changed the IP address of the QDNS machine at this time as well.
I have had intermittent customer complaints about being unable to reach
the servers, depending on what service they were using, etc. etc.
I did some checking with the DNS query tool to various name servers
around the internet, and found that about half of them, as of this
morning, STILL don't have the updated information.
What's more disturbing, is that our secondary DNS (hosted by another
party) still doesn't show the changes either. Seems like enough time
should have gone by for everything to shake out. Any thoughts? The
details for our name servers are:
ns1.starionhost.net
ns2.prxy.net
