That sounds pretty odd.

Do you have an enterprise license? If so, are you logging in as
administrator? (With an enterprise license, it's possible to define a
user account that can't see certain zones, including slave zones.)

Do you see the slave zone files in /var/named/hosts/slaves? Do you
see the zones represented in /var/named/conf/zones (a text file)? How
about the options files in /var/named/conf/zoneopt?
