Re: Getting ODBC Preview working with OptiGoldFrom: Jeremy Domingue Date: Thursday, June 3, 1999
Time: 2:35:17 pmShawn,
Thanks for the reply... glad you're finally getting back on your feet.
I set up the workstation for the web access, and got that all working, but I
still can't get the ODBC working. The problem is, I need to specifally set
the sharing to access the 'Local Data Access Companion', and when I enable
it for the web it's only sharing to the 'Web Companion'. The only way I can
find to do this is to open the file I want to share, and go under 'File',
and 'Sharing' (I've tested this with some of the sample files included with
FileMaker and it works great that way). In all the OptiGold files I have
opened (even in the web interface screen), however, that option is greyed
out.
Is there anything else I could possibly do to get in there so I can check
that 'Local Data Access Companion' box under the sharing properties for the
files?
Thanks,
Jeremy Domingue

To be honest, I'm not sure... as I haven't messed with it a whole let yet.
One thing you can do to get to the Sharing preferences is from the Web
Interface screen. (Like if you kick the workstation into Web Server mode).
I know that's sort of a round-about way of doing it, but I haven't
incorporated the "automatic" ODBC configuration since the ODBC plug-in is
just a "technology preview" at this point.
