I'm a horrible designer also so i just use the services available of Fiverr etc. Pretty good value for money in my opinion

i've not used it yet. I would never want to come across spammy so would need to learn how to do it properly

If you don't have a large budget i would suggest maybe trying the niche site route with affiliate marketing. Doesn't cost too much other than time.
