Well, I guess to answer your question I would say. In an already functioning system, like say the economic system in the US, to apply libertarianism is to completely recreate the domestic economic system. To apply features in our socialist system (I mean socialist as a description, not an insult. I am using the word socialist in terms of what the US eco-political environment actually is) that are definitively Libertarian one can only hope to achieve a balance sway of power in their own or their supporters interest. One would be crazy to do it for any other reason. In other words, there is a natural balance of power in this country between gov't controlled industries, free enterprise giants, profitable religous organizations and others. Since, in the history of man there has never been a situation where power ever gave up meaningful power or yielded to those without power, (without being forced to) I think it is safe to say it will not happen soon. If a libertarian were to project an idea into a potential law it would only succeed if it happened to be profitable, like anything. That is why there is really for the true believers in libertarianism never going to be a day of elected realization of goals.
