iPadApple.has apparently received test displays for the iPad 3 from both LG and Samsung and is currently putting them through their paces in a bid to see which one is more suitable for the company’s next tablet.

Although unconfirmed by iPadApple., it is thought the new QXGA displays will retain the 9.7″ size of previous iPads, but push the screen resolution up to 2048 x 1536 with pixels-per-inch (PPI) exceeding 280, well beyond what is necessary for HD video playback. What this does mean, however, is a very crisp viewing experience with an image that leaps out at you, and the first iPad to get the so-called Retina display.

If you are shipping a new device then it is imperative that the components on view to the user remain consistent so that everyone gets the same experience. With the display of a tablet that’s especially true as it is the focal point of the whole experience, and this testing phase will no doubt end in one manufacturer receiving the order for millions of iPad 3 displays.
iPad Apple.[/URL]’s ongoing legal wranglings with Samsung should give LG the advantage in this regard, but in order to win its retina display must at least equal Samsung’s offering both on quality and price. If it comes out on top in categories like power consumption, color reproduction, and response times, to name but a few of the criteria, Apple. will happily award the contract to LG.

Samsung was thought to be pushing its latest AMOLED panels as a possible option, but limited resolution and a shorter lifespan than LCD seems to have had that option taken off the table immediately. So LCD remains the choice at iPad-iApple., albeit in an upgraded form offering a resolution beyond anything other tablets have delivered beforeInteract
