December 11th Google Search Ranking Algorithm Update Signals
There are now signs that there is a Google search ranking algorithm update going on. The signals started late December 10th, mostly on December 11th and throughout December 12th. We see both chatter in the SEO forums and from the automated tracking tools.
Google BERT Now International Supporting Over 70 Languages
Well that was quicker than most expected, Google has taken BERT, which launched in late October for English language queries in the US in core search and expanded it to 70 languages internationally. In fact, it surprised Danny Sullivan and John Mueller of Google in how fast it launched globally.
December 4th Google Search Ranking Algorithm Update. Maybe?
Some of the tracking tools are spiking up and showing signals of a Google search ranking update over the past couple of days - maybe December 3rd or 4th. There is some limited chatter, nothing crazy, but some chatter at WebmasterWorld. Some are saying they saw significant changes to their rankings in the past couple of days but most are not talking about changes.

Google, I believe, for the first time ever, has confirmed a Google Local update. Google confirmed on Twitter the November local update we wrote about here a few times, some are also calling it the Bedlam update. But Google named it the Nov. 2019 Local Search Update.

This past month we had a bunch of tremors and somewhat unconfirmed and semi-confirmed Google search algorithmic updates. We also had a big Google Local and Maps update that seems to be about relevancy, not proximity. It was not an insane month of news but it was busy.

Google Search Result Rankings Had A Very Volatile Week: Tremors All Week?
I have to say that this week, starting from last Friday, has been pretty volatile with the organic search results. All week long, people have been asking me if there is a Google update today. Truth is, it feels like tremors all week long. The chatter and tracking tools seem to confirm this as well.
