Twitter as river, RSS as filing cabinet

Cap Watkins is switching from RSS to Twitter, and so far he is very happy:

Now that I’ve started using Twitter for feeds, I’m unlikely to ever go back. The ease of sharing, Favoriting, Retweeting, sending to Instapaper, etc. not only match, but at times surpass even Reeder in terms of ease and simplicity. One less app to deal with is a win, not to mention that the links are ordered exactly as I like them (and holy crap, Tweetbot iCloud sync. So good).

Flexibility and feedback during the design process

In A More Flexible Workflow Dennis Kardys describes an all-too-familiar design process problem in agencies:

The reality however, is that projects would often get held up as clients mulled over wireframes or fought for consensus within their organization. […] In a nutshell, there was too much talking and too little...

Google’s Explores a User Activity Media Feed

    by Bill Slawski

How active is Google Plus? How active do you want it to be? One of the criticisms of the site is that its a ghost town, where nothing ever goes on. I can’t say that’s been my experience, but I can see how people can make those claims.

Would you like to see an activity [...]

Sometimes the things that Google do just make my head hurt, aka “the unnatural link warnings”. I am pretty sure most SEO agencies out there will have come across at least one of these, I know I have, and most new clients come with one these days....

All signs are pointing to a Google update being pushed out yesterday afternoon into today. The speculation across the SEO forums is that this is the Panda refresh we were expecting to see this weekend.
Google's Matt Cutts said we should expect to see a refresh of Panda sometime this Friday or Monday. It seems like the Panda update started actually yesterday afternoon and is continuing to propagate throughout now.

The BBC News, the world's largest broadcast news organization, has just received a unnatural links notification from Google. I kid you not.
A Google Webmaster Help thread has representative of the BBC web site asking Google for help in identifying the unnatural links, so they can make sure BBC.co.uk is clear of any Google penalty.

The value of exposing kids to technology

    by Rian van der Merwe

About a year ago I wrote an article for Smashing Magazine called A Dad’s Plea To Developers Of iPad Apps For Children. It was generally well received, but some of the comments still haunt me. Like this one:

If you don’t care about your kids reading, then go on and keep buying apps for the ipad.

    And this one:

Wow really?? great parents here.. having a kid under 7 stare at a screen, really?? come on!! no kid under 7 should use an iPad for what?? play outside, play with your...
