    by Rian van der Merwe
    Dec 22, 2014
I wrote a story about jazz, coffee, and liner notes, and hopefully managed to turn it into something with a logical conclusion. But feel free to judge for yourself by reading Taking back the music:

We like things fast and disposable — I get that. I mean, no one even knew what the word “ephemeral” meant until Snapchat came along. Google Germany seems to have dropped that feature. Via Martin Ice Web in the WebmasterWorld forums...

Information Architecture for SEO - Whiteboard Friday

    Dec 18, 2014
It wasn't too long ago that there was significant tension between information architects and SEOs; one group wanted to make things easier for humans, the other for search engines. That line is largely disappearing, and there are several best practices in IA that can lead to great benefits in search. In today's Whiteboard Friday, Rand explains what they are and how we can benefit from them....

    Design and angry mobs

    by Rian van der Merwe
    Dec 18, 2014
Paul Ford knocks it out of the park again in What I learned about hatred from my tiny daughter, an essay about collective anger on the internet:

When you aggregate enough people and get them to talk about design they become, basically, a single giant toddler.
